Brooklyn is a new full time member of our team at the CAC, and we are so excited to have her here. Congratulations on your master’s, Brooklyn!
Originally from Parkersburg, WV, Brooklyn has spent the last six years in Morgantown pursuing her education. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in Child Development and Family Studies and recently completed her Master’s in Counseling, both at WVU. She began at the CAC as a graduate intern in August 2020 and recently joined the center full time as a therapist, performing client evaluations, developing treatment plans, and conducting therapy sessions.
Brooklyn cultivated her passion for mental health while working as an undergrad intern at Mountaineer Psychological Services. She enjoyed learning the adult therapy process there and knew she wanted to continue the therapy path, but with a focus on children. At the CAC, she can fulfill her goal of providing mental health therapy to children and their families. Her favorite part of working at the CAC is the diversity of types of clients she gets to see. “It keeps it interesting, and no day is the same,” she says.
Brooklyn admits that sometimes the children’s stories she hears can be tough to deal with, but she tries to make the kids laugh to put them at ease. She is excited for the possibility of more in-person visits, as connecting with children over telehealth can be challenging.
In her free time, Brooklyn is a dedicated plant lady, collecting many plants that live in her house. To relax, she also enjoys cooking, thrift shopping, yoga, and Netflix.
